Volunteer Program

This program helps to several community institutions through the visit of students and volunteers donating his work, materials or collaborating with the development of our people. The following projects are intended to raise awareness among participants of the importance of proper waste management, reforestation, planting, environmental protection, conservation values and traditions, among other elements to achieve sustainable development.

In addition to volunteer work, participants have the opportunity to experience the farmers life and being part of educational, recreational or cultural activities such as forest hikes, handmade tortilla classes in wood stove, afternoon soccer matches (mejenga), mini rodeo with calf and cows milking, night of dancing with popular music, dinner with gallos, traditional games afternoon and farewell dinner.

The rooms for this program must be a minimum 2 nights, 2 people and is applied to each volunteer a 25% discount on rack rates for accommodation and food. It also offers tours and activities at no cost as thanks for their work.

Gallos: different meal preparations with meat, sausages, cheese, tubers and/ or vegetables served on a corn tortilla. 

What's the program include?

Shared accommodations, 3 meals a day, 1 recreational activity per day.

What projects can the volunteers develop?

In elementary Juanilama School • Painting of murals of classrooms and dinning room. • Construction of playground for students with recycling or rustic materials (tires, wood waste, etc.). • Development of rustic dumps for recyclable waste classification. • Development of an organic garden. • Improvement of gardens and playground area. • Development of an orchard (bananas, plantains, cassava, coriander, etc). • Construction of a fruit tree nursery in the area. • Planting fruit trees in the area. With the Agro ecological Association of Juanilama • Improvement of forest trails. • Painting of murals in the office walls. • Development of rustic dumps for recyclable waste classification. • Development of signs with messages promoting sustainable practices to place in the Community. • Improvement of gardens and playground area. • Construction of a fruit tree nursery in the area. • Development and installation of signs with messages of sustainable practices in place in the community. • Construction of a timber tree nursery in the area. • Planting fruit trees in the area. • Labeling of trees. In the churches of community • Painting the walls with mural • Development of rustic dumps for recyclable waste classification • Improvement of gardens. • Planting fruit trees in the area. In Juanilama Communal Development Association • Painting of murals in community halls • Development of rustic dumps for recyclable waste classification. • Improvement of gardens. • Cleanning of street edges. • Painting the dining community hall. • Improve and painting the dressing rooms of the soccer field. In Juanilama High School • Implementation and improvement of trails in the high school forest reserve. • Painting of murals in classrooms walls. • Development of rustic dumps for recyclable waste classification. • Improvement of gardens. • Construction of a fruit tree nursery in the area. • Construction of a timber tree nursery in the area. • Planting fruit trees in the area. • Labeling of trees.
