Our community is located 4 miles north of Santa Rosa de Pocosol, in the canton of San Carlos and around 3 hours driving from San José. Juanilama town is about 200 people mostly dedicated to cattle raising, milk production and its derivatives. Besides agriculture with pineapple, bananas, plantain and tubers, given the hot and humid weather that normally the area has.
In 2000 a group of residents decided to form Agroecological Association, in order to protect the primary forest was in the community and at the same time, starting a rural tourism project that offers activities parallel to agricultural work that the people develops. Arising in this way, opportunities for growth in a rural community that such activities based on criteria of environmental, cultural and economic.
We integrate Juanilama everyday peasant life with the combination of cultural attractions, natural and agricultural products. We offer our visitors the chance to live the daily life of a rural community through tours and activities designed to show the Costa Rican culture, the traditions of the people, respect for nature and the daily tasks that are normally done. Also complemented with basic lodging and typical meals.
